Rogue Valley Gardener Invites Local Gardeners to Join Community for 2011 Gardening Season

January 13, 2011

Medford, Oregon—Gardeners in the Rogue Valley now have a place online to share photos, ask and answer questions in forums, organize events and more. The community on the Rogue Valley Gardener, Southern Oregon’s premier online gardening resource, has opened for membership.

“We believe that gardening is a communal activity,” says owner Steve McDonald. “We wanted to integrate the joy of the outdoors with the benefits of technology on the Rogue Valley Gardener.”

About the Community

The RVG community is different from other social networks in two main ways. First, it’s all about gardening, so it doesn’t feel like a high school reunion each time users log in. Second, it’s locally focused, so gardeners will see information from fellow gardeners and local nurseries that’s applicable specifically to Southern Oregon gardens.

Membership

Members have access to the community and forums, to discuss questions and issues. Forums are limited to registered members to keep the information quality high. Membership is free, but the site is funded by donations. The recommended donation per month is $2.50.

Resources

The Rogue Valley Gardener site features a constantly updated article database, videos and links as resources to help gardeners in the valley’s Zone 8 climate. Site resources are available to any user.

The Rogue Valley Gardener creates a space for local gardeners to connect with each other and local garden-focused businesses for timely advice, useful products and garden chat.
