Got my first tomatoes today. 11 Months ago Karma: 0
I started my tomatoes from seed in March under lights. Nine varieties in all: Amish Paste, Pruden's Purple, red currant, Sungold, Glacier, Early Girl, Sweet Million, Sweet 100 & Principe Borghese, but Glacier did not turn out true.

I got two ripe Sungolds tonight and 11 mixed squash. It officially feels like summer now

Awesome! Great job! That's really early on another late spring.

A trip to Kauai put me behind on my garden this year. Didn't begin transplanting 'til the second week of June. Ouch!

Got a half dozen, green Early Girl and Forth of July along with a few Sweet 100s, but that's about it, so far. Color me "GREEN"... with envy.

Thank you, thank you! I'll be here all week!

Got any pix?

Yes, I have pictures on my husband's phone, but I don't know how to attach them etc... I am trying to figure it out.

I wish it would stop raining. My plants are starting to pick up some early blight from it. Only one or two leaves on a few plants, but I know it can get bad fast.

So far, I'm mostly picking them off. I did get some Serenade on before this last rain. I have enough Serenade for one more application on most of my garden, but I'm thinking of testing a baking soda spray. Since the blight is very light, I figure I have time to experiment with the baking soda spray and still have time to go back to Serenade if I need to.

I'd love to hear from people who have tried or use baking soda spray.

Have fun everyone!

I use it on cukes and squash for powdery mildew. Works fine, but requires semi-weekly application. Never tried it for early blight. I'd be interested to hear your results.

Yeah, I just pick the leaves. They're usually on the bottom and not as important as the upper leaves. Weatherman SWEARS that summer is finally starting on Wednesday (6/27.) Heard that before.

Fingers crossed!

I just had my first tomato harvest the other day. It was pitiful - only three tiny cherry tomatoes, with like a million more on the way

Well for pre-Independance Day, I still call that great! You guys are good!

As a Southern Oregon Realtor, I see a lot of gardens. None I have seen this year have toms over 18" tall. I try to help them. I tell them about roguevalleygardener. But do they listen?
