Hi, I wanted to know if anyone knows what the blue flowering shrub is that is blooming now and grows along the road, especially out here along evans creek. Some people are calling it a wild lilac but that can't be.

Yep, I've asked before and that is what I was told too. So, I think I know what plant you are talking about. I don't know anything about bushes/shrubs I wish I did. Why do you think it has to be something different? I will ask around more, maybe we can get it answered for the both of us. Nice to meet you, Lorri D

Thank you for responding. The reason I question it is because Wild Lilac or California Lilac is Ceanothus and this does not resemble that. Wild Lilac is much deeper blue with serrated leaf. This plant does not resemble anything I have found online except maybe a little like the ocean spray but blue instead of white.

Hi all! Have a look at blue spirea and see what you think. I hope it isn't purple-ish--then it could be an invasive weed, namely purple loosestrife.

If you can get a sample and take it in to the OSU plant clinic on Hanley road behind Central Point, they can help you identify it. (Open 10-2 weekdays. Just go into the main bldg next to the parking lot, step inside, and go through the doors to the left.
